Membership BenefitsMembers receive a bimonthly newsletter in which they can find: a message from RWPA's President; articles of interest submitted by the membership; notifications of job opportunities in the area; recognition of members' achievements. In addition to these opportunities for growth and networking, RWPA is represented in the Alliance for Paralegal Professional Standards, an organization formulating proposed standards for North Carolina paralegals. RWPA encourages and offers many avenues of involvement for its members, including participation in any of its nine committees: Administrative/Legislative, Finance, Membership, Patron and Sustaining Membership, Job Bank, Student Relations, Program/Education, Public Relations, and Social. A seminar featuring timely information on topics of interest and showcasing new developments in the paralegal field is offered in the Spring at a very reasonable cost. Only General Members have the right to vote and to hold elected office, however, all members may serve on committees.
Services for Paralegal Students
RWPA sponsors a social for and
offers an e-mentoring program to students enrolled in the Meredith College
Legal Assistants Program. Also, RWPA awards an annual scholarship to assist a
deserving student.
