CAMILLE STELL SCHOLARSHIP
The Camille Stell scholarship is a prestigious award presented to students striving to achieve paralegal professionalism through education.The award is named after Camille Stell, a pioneer in paralegal studies and the paralegal profession as a whole. Camille began her freshman year at Meredith College in 1980, which happened to be the first year the Meredith Legal Assistants Program was offered (later renamed the Meredith Paralegal Program). In her senior year she became interested in and was accepted to the Litigation Specialty and graduated from the Legal Assistants Program in August 1984, after completing her undergraduate studies in May 1984. Even after graduating, Camille often returned to Meredith to participate in panels and speak with students that shared her passion for the paralegal profession. In 1989, Camille was asked to teach at Meredith and was overjoyed at the chance to continuing working with students. Teaching came naturally for Camille, and she loved being in front of the students, researching and helping them prepare their resume and interview techniques. Camille taught at Meredith for 15 years and served briefly as an interim director.
Camille has played a very important role in the history of the RWPA. Throughout her career as a paralegal Camille has been an active member of the RWPA. She was a Board member holding various positions of President, 2nd Vice President, Student/School Relations, Newsletter Editor, Nominating Committee Chair and Patron Committee Chair. Her contributions during her time on the Board have provided a strong foundation to the RWPA of today. The RWPA is extremely proud to be able to offer this award in her name.
Every year the Raleigh-Wake Paralegal Association awards a scholarship of $1,000 to a Meredith student that is accepted into the the Meredith College Paralegal
Program. If you have been accepted into the Meredith College Paralegal Program for the 2008-2009 school year and would like to apply for this $1,000 scholorship award, please download the application here. The deadline to apply
for this scholarship award is August 31, 2008. The scholarship will
be awarded at our September 10th, 2008 Meredith College Student Social
Meeting.
