President - Julianne Fink, NCCP
Julianne D. Fink, NCCP is a corporate paralegal in the Raleigh office with the law firm Kennedy Covington Lobdell & Hickman. Julie is a 1989 graduate from Loyola University of Chicago with a degree in Business and Communications. Julie graduated from the Meredith College Paralegal Program, with a specialty in business in 2004. Legal Assistant Today named Julie the “2006 Paralegal Rookie of the Year”. Julie has been involved with the Raleigh-Wake Paralegal Association (“RWPA”) since graduating from Meredith. Currently, Julie is the President of the RWPA (2008 and 2009) and has previously served as the First-Vice President (2006-2007) and the Civic/Community Chair (2004-2005). Julie is also involved with the North Carolina Bar Association, Legal Assistants Division (“LAD”). Julie begins her term as Chair of the Continuing Legal Education Committee (2008-2009) in July, as well as serving on the LAD Council (2008-2011). She is just completing her term as Ethics Chair and Co-Chair of the Continuing Legal Education Committee (2007-2008). In her capacity as Ethics Chair, Julie is developing a paralegal manual which discusses paralegal issues and ethics guidelines which will be sold through the NCBA Foundation. Julie has been a member of the Meredith College Paralegal Program Advisory Board since 2007 and was their commencement speaker May 2007. Julie was a speaker at the NCBA, Ethics; The Power Within Us (2005) and the keynote speaker at the RWPA Student Social (2005). First Vice-President (Membership Chair) - Crissie Curtis, NCCP
Crissie Curtis, North Carolina Certified Paralegal, is originally a native of eastern North Carolina and a graduate of East Carolina University with a BA in Political Science. She obtained her Paralegal Certificate from the National Center for Paralegal Training in Atlanta, Georgia. Currently, Crissie is working as a paralegal at Young Moore and Henderson, P.A. in the area of estate administration and administrative law. Previously, she worked at Everett, Gaskins, Hancock & Stevens, LLP in civil litigation and foreclosures. Additional experience includes working on Capitol Hill for the Ways and Means Committee, serving as a policy advisor to Lieutenant Governor Beverly Perdue and working as a grants manager for the Health and Wellness Trust Fund Commission. Sherry is a North Carolina Certified Paralegal and a graduate of North Carolina State University with a B.S. in Business Management, concentrating in Human Resources. Sherry received her Paralegal Certification from Meredith College. She is currently employed by Kennedy Covington Lobdell & Hickman, L.L.P. as a real estate paralegal. Prior to working with Kennedy Covington, Sherry worked as a corporate paralegal with Helms Mulliss & Wicker, PLLC. Sustaining Chair/Patron Membership - Priscilla B. DeLuca, NCCP
Priscilla DeLuca obtained her Paralegal Certificate from the ICS Paralegal Program and is a North Carolina Certified Paralegal. She is currently employed with the law firm Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein, L.L.P. as a Senior Litigation Paralegal. She has been employed with Parker Poe since June, 1999. Prior to her employment at Parker Poe, she was employed as a paralegal with the Chapel Hill company, ICALM Group, where she worked on aviation claims and lawsuits for a major airline. B. Dianne Shackelford attended classes at the Professional Career Development Institute in Atlanta, Georgia and is a North Carolina Certified Paralegal. She is currently employed with the law firm of Kennedy Covington Lobdell & Hickman, L.L.P. She has been a real estate paralegal for almost 18 years. She has been a member of RWPA since 2004. Lisa Vasques obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Vermont and graduated from the Woodbury College Paralegal Program. Lisa worked in the Vermont Court System for several years before relocating to North Carolina. She earned her Paralegal Certificate from Meredith College in 2004 and is currently working in the legal office of Hudson & Keyse, LLC as a Paralegal doing collections litigation. Maryle (rhymes with Karl) earned her Paralegal Certificate from Meredith College. She has been employed by the Raleigh firm of Weatherspoon & Voltz LLP since 2004. Lanice Heidbrink is a 2007 graduate of the Meredith College Paralegal Program. She had been employed several years in Purchasing/Inventory Control before moving here from Chicago in 2005. Christine Blackwell is a litigation paralegal at the Raleigh law firm of Bailey & Dixon, LLP. She has been a paralegal for almost 14 years. Christine is a North Carolina Certified Paralegal and has a B.S. degree in Criminal Justice from the University of North Carolina. She earned her paralegal certification from Meredith College in 1992. She is a long standing member of RWPA as well as a member of the North Carolina Bar Association’s Legal Assistant Division. Job Bank Chair - Shelia Jones
Shelia Jones has served in the legal field for almost 30 years. She obtained her undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice from Mt. Olive College and is a 2006 graduate of the Meredith College Paralegal Program with a specialty in real estate. Shelia is looking forward to returning to RWPA’s Board this year as Job Bank Chair. She has worked with attorneys in various offices including the N. C. Attorney General’s Office, the Onslow County District Attorney’s Office, N. C. Office of Administrative Hearings, CP&L Legal Department, and the Boyce & Isley Law Firm. She enjoys her role as Paralegal/Office Administrator with the Creech Law Firm, P.A. in Raleigh. Jen assisted the medical malpractice group while at Smith Anderson. Jen joined Young Moore & Henderson, P.A. in 2004. She assists the litigation team with personal injury defense litigation. Jen has been a member, and Board member, of the Raleigh-Wake Paralegal Association since 2000. In her Board capacity, Jen has served as the 1st Vice President, Parliamentarian, President, and is currently serving as the Patron and Sustaining Membership Chair. Through her involvement with RWPA, Jen served as a delegate for three years on the Alliance for Paralegal Professional Standards which assisted with the drafting of the current North Carolina State Bar Certified legislation. Jen is also a member of the National Association for Legal Assistants and the North Carolina Paralegal Association. She currently serves on the Meredith College Paralegal Program Advisory Board. In 2001, Jen obtained the Certified Legal Assistant's designation and the North Carolina Certified Paralegal designation in 2005.
